India Reports Neary 2.5 Lakh Cases In Last 24 Hours, Recovery Rate At 95.59%


Amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and fear of new Omicron variant, India reported a total of 2,47,417 new cases in the last 24 hours, informed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday. 

The ministry also said that India’s active caseload is presently at 11,17,531 which constitutes 3.08 per cent of the country’s total positive cases.

The weekly positivity rate in the country currently stands at 10.80 per cent and the daily positivity rate is also at 13.11 per cent.

A total of 84,825 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients is now at 3,47,15,361. India’s recovery rate stands at 95.59 per cent, according to the ministry. 

With the administration of over 76,32,024 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 154.61 crore through 1,65,65,942 sessions.

“The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 18,86,935 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 69.73 crore (69,73,11,627) cumulative tests,” it said. 

The ministry further stated that over 157.36 crore (1,57,36,18,605) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through the Centre and through the direct state procurement category.

More than 15.75 crore (15,75,22,876) balance and unutilised COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, it said.
